My....OFFICE!!

For two years I have had the dream to move my home office into our spare bedroom.  Of course, since we moved up here, our spare bedroom has been more of a concealed storage space for toys, clothes and other (frankly) shit unused things we didn't want out in the open.  I am not even kidding you when I say that that room was WORSE than most of the homes you see on Clean House.  You could not walk into that room AT ALL.  It was just a receptacle for shit, shit and more shit stuff we don't use! Since we could not walk in that room and I had no motivation for cleaning out the junk that was in it, I used my bedroom as a home office.  While that was ok for a while, unfortunately no longer.  What was the problem with that?  Simple.  Since I got my job with Bluefly, the temptation to lay down in my bed on the downtimes or watch TV while I worked was SO bad.  I felt like all of the distractions were calling my name! I felt like I couldn't properly get my work done.   Finally, after years of wanting it, I made the decision to clean that room.  I had to or I would continue to be distracted.

Friday at Last! (Blog & Hops)

Sorry for the tackiness, but I had to use something glitzy to make myself feel better. Ha!  I have had the month week from hell.  I told my friend the other day, if I actually had a month week that went well, I'd be shocked.  Everything seems to go wrong lately! I definitely hope that things start looking up, but I highly doubt that.  At least I am not alone in feeling like life is overwhelming.  Two of my friends feel the same way, as well as a nice client that I met yesterday as well.  Maybe it's just a bad month for everyone.

Brighten Up Your Outside with Pier 1!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1. All opinions are 100% mine.
Pier 1 has the most creative and innovative furniture for your home.  They are really head-turning pieces that people will talk about even after they leave your house!  Pier 1 has just unveiled their Spring/Summer 2011 outside furniture line and they definitely live up to the Pier 1 expectations of their loyal customers!  The pieces are gorgeous, beautiful, innovative and very unique.  Their ideas are one of a kind!
For me, I absolutely love anything colorful and creative.  I am the kind of person who wants a bright outside to match with the amazing weather and to relax when I am having a tough day!  I don't like the dreary dark woods or boring white wicker, I like the bright and loud colors that scream, "It's summer!"
That is why I would definitely go with some of these things for my outside!

Plastic Surgery to Stop Bullying?

Can't we just love who we are?

I have spoken a lot about bullying on my blog, because it is important to me.  I was bullied from ages 8-18 and I hated it.  I was picked on for absolutely anything that kids could find to pick on me about, and they continued to bully me all through school because I let it get to me.  I would be picked on for my hair being too thick, for being to chubby, for having glasses and braces and even for being adopted.  The bottom line is, kids are cruel and unfortunately, the only thing those being bullied can do about it is to stand their ground and not let it visually shake them.  Easier said than done, right?

Imagination Movers, Sony Style Store meet and greet!

The Imagination Movers were in Edison, New Jersey today at the Sony Style Store within Menlo Park Mall!  Alayna and I woke up bright and early to go to this meet and greet, which she has been waiting for, for DAYS!  Unfortunately, my mom couldn't make it and Olivia wouldn't have sat for the 3.5 hours we were waiting, but Olivia is attending the concert tomorrow with us! :)

unHappy Meals coming to New York?

New York recently put in a bid to ban Happy Meal and Kids Meal toys from fast food chains.  They claim that the advertising of the toys is the reason children are so unhealthy.  Claims are, that the TV commercials announcing new toys every week, are manipulating children to eat unhealthy.  While I do think that the advertising has a lot to do with our children wanting McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, etc... It is the parents decision not to take them, even if our children beg, carry on and scream.  Our children do not run the home and therefore cannot make parents decisions for them.  Even though it's difficult, parents have to say no and put their foot down when it comes down to it.

My near-brush with messing up my diet.

Anyone who has been reading this blog for as long as I have had it, knows that I have been dieting on and off for years.  I have had much success with different types of diets, but as soon as I lost some weight, it went right back on.  I have a problem with stress eating.  I am an emotional eater, and that leads to my gaining weight again when I go through difficult times.  There are days I feel like I will never lose the weight because of my emotional eating, especially when stress is inevitable on a daily basis;  it's a natural part of my life now.  Stress with the kids, stress with finances, stress with work, stress with being social...it is something that I just can never get used to.

Monday Mingle (text version) and Alayna's first poster/presentation!

Alayna Danielle, my 5 year old little diva, has her first presentation today to accompany her first poster that she has ever had to make for school.   Their class does a "Star Student" week, where each week they pick two students to be the star students.  They then have to make a poster about themselves and bring 5 things (one each day of the week) for Show and Tell.  She brought her Lalaloopsy doll today and the poster that she and I made together.  (Thank God for my Cricut or I wouldn't have been able to make her name look so presentable!)

What is the day that I hate the most?

I absolutely despise April Fool's Day.  It's not even a hatred, it's DESPISING it.  When I was younger, I thought I was the only one who hated the day.  I felt like I was the only one among millions of people who loved the "Holiday".  As I grew older and was unashamed to voice my hatred, I realized that more people, than I actually knew, hated the day as well.  I didn't feel so lonely anymore, but still wanted to sleep all day on April 1st.

Stuffed Hot Dog Recipe! Delicious for adults and kids! Low carb and Low cal!

Since I've been on a diet, I really want to make different things to make things more interesting.  Sometimes, eating the same salad or chicken is very tiresome and makes you not want to diet anymore.  My mom was talking about a stuffed hot dog that she used to eat when she was a kid, and I made my own variation!  I saw some different recipes online where you can mix ketchup, mustard and saurkraut to make a paste to go in the hot dog as well, but I wanted to make it as low carb as possible.  So I used the ketchup, saurkraut and mustard as garnish, if I wanted to eat it!
