A surprising day at the fair!

We were supposed to get the rain from the hurricane this weekend but thankfully the hype was just that; hype.  It rained a little bit on Thursday, but that was it.  The rest of the weekend was gorgeous!  It was so gorgeous that yesterday we decided to make this weekend our last garage sale weekend of the summer.  So off we went!

Yesterday we had so many great deals for the kids.  I couldn't believe how much we got for the little bit of money we spent.  We had so much fun that we decided to go again today.  So we did!

Today was gorgeous...mid 70's to low 80's.  The first yard sale we hit (and the last!) had so many clothes for my girls.  I got about 50 pieces including Gap, Childrens Place, Old Navy and so many more name brand clothes and paid $5.  AMAZING!  We also got some great toys (still in the box!) that I was able to sneak away for Christmas.  In total, I spent $20 in garage sales for clothes, 7 boxed toys (new in the box!) a pair of Bratz roller skate/sneakers for Alayna, a brand new box of Colorforms, some little stuff the kids wanted and so much more.  I love the bargains!

The reason why that was the only sale we went to, was when we were heading to the next garage sale we saw the Staten Island Richmond County Fair was there!  Of course, we had to stop!  Unfortunately, this was the biggest money eater of them all.  $45 to get into the fair for the 4 of us, money for games, food, face painting, airbrush tattoos and more.  Of course, I can't say no to my kids... But I'd rather give them the last great fun of the summer before back to school than use the money for myself.  :)  We had a BLAST!

Alayna got her face painted

They went on rides!

They won goldfish! :)

Who doesn't love a good carnival??

The Carnival is in town!!  Ok, well, it's one town over in Staten Island.  Anyhow, we ended up going yesterday and Joey (Olivia's dad) ended up joining us.  He wanted to come down for the day to spend with both of my girls and myself and I thought that staying in the house on such a beautiful day just wouldn't be right. So, we took a ride to the carnival.

Alayna, Myself, Olivia, Her dad

Honestly, I wait for this carnival every year because it is one of the best for the kids.  It's fairly priced, great games and they usually always have more than enough kiddy rides to make paying the bridge, admission and tickets worthwhile...  Again, it didn't fail me! We had more than enough fun there and it actually expanded this year! (Yay!)  The kids couldn't wait to get on rides, although Olivia got freaked out on the carousel because it goes up and down.  Haha.  She finally calmed down towards the end.  It took her dad and I to both hold her until she calmed down!  (Thank God Alayna is big enough to basically ride on her own. haha.)  Though, after that ride, she loved everything else that she chose to ride.  Come to think of it, she actually wanted (so badly) to ride the small roller coaster and the scrambler. LOL  I had to say no, but if she keeps up lovin' the awesome rides when she gets older, I doubt either myself or her father would protest!!

 Olivia tired with daddy

Of course, there were PLENTY of edible temptations at the Carnival.  Come on, it's CARNIVAL FOOD...the most delicious, best smelling, deep fried and fattening food that you could possibly think of.  Actually, the only thing worse than Carnival food is NYC street fair food... (But even then, they have some healthy options! ha)  One of the best temptations were Deep Fried Oreos...

Ok, so I have been dying to try these and I've heard so many great things about them.  Not to mention, Olivia's dad, my mom and the kids wanted some...  So over I went to the counter.

Ok.... Yes, I had one.... JUST ONE!!  I figured that one frikkin yummy golden and chocolatey deep fried oreo wouldn't kill me.  (Oh yes, I did feel the guilt as I had a bite...but the warm yummy goodness of this damn thing masked the guilt until I got home!!) lol :)  I only had one...I swear.  The kids, Olivia's dad and my mom ate the others.  The guilt is still eating at me!! (Side note: At least this morning I woke up and was still LOSING weight.  Praise the Lord that one deep fried oreo didn't kill me.)  By the way... they're 'mmm mmm good.' ;)
It's getting so warm out, I hope to finally weed the yard, plant the lovely vegetables in the ground and put our pool up... All without getting mosquito bites.  My tan is too nice, I'm so afraid to get gross mosquito bites and mess it up!!

Let's have FUN!! :) UPB Day 2!!

I looove to party and love some party icebreakers!  (That used to be my favorite part of school parties and get togethers!!) So sit back, get comfy, grab some great snacks or a cocktail and let's get started!  Our first ice breaker is:

What has been the BEST party you have ever been to?

I'll tell you mine. :)  For my 22nd birthday a few of my friends decided to surprise me completely.  Some flew in from wherever they lived, but didn't tell me.  One of my best friends, Carole, told me that she and I were going for a day in NYC together.  (I believed her, being as naive as I was! LOL Besides, I felt no one really cared about my birthday!)  Well, we parked and started walking to BB Kings where she said we were eating for lunch.  When I get there, I had about 6 of my friends. (including my boyfriend, at the time)  When I got there, I was told that they had other birthday surprises planned; they were taking me to see Wicked and we were going on a freaking dinner cruise around Manhattan!

This was the best party because people cared.  I never had a birthday party for any of my adult life and because those people cared like they did, it was just absolutely amazing to me.  I felt so loved and a part of something.  It was perfect.  I will definitely never forget that party!

Now onto my regularly scheduled post!

I had such an exciting day!  It's that time of the year again, garage sale season!  My mom and I went today and had such a great time.  I enjoy those Saturdays with my mom.

We found a $2 waffle maker, the Fisher Price Smart Shopper store for $8!! (With all of the accessories!!)  I wanted to get this for the girls quite a while ago, but was never able to find it in a store!  The thing is so adorable.  It comes with plenty of play food, a play credit card, play shopping bags, play coins and plastic cash along with a shopping basket AND shopping cart!!  It's very helpful with teaching the kids what things are and teaching them some numbers.  IT EVEN HAS A LITTLE PLAY ATM ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE!!!  It's so adorable, I can't stand it!!

I also found some awesome clothes for the girls for very cheap and some Bratz dolls.  (Only spent $35 the ENTIRE day!!)  I got some things for myself; necklaces (5 for $1.00!!) as well as the waffle maker and a South Beach cookbook!  Very excited about everything I did pick up today.  I can't wait until next weekend for more garage sale fun!  It's the only time my mom and I don't fight.  (And finding out where we're going while driving around Staten Island is just awesome!)
Happy Weekend, everyone...hope you're having a great one!  Oh yeah, and TOMORROW we're posting a ULTIMATE BLOG PARTY GIVEAWAY!!  We're going to be giving away Hot Locks dolls!!  Will be posted tomorrow morning!
