A Good Deed Should Never Go Unrewarded -- My Story About Good Karma

Tell us about the most surprising helping hand you've ever received. - Writing Prompt from The Daily Post
I am a big believer of karma -- do something nice for someone and someone will do something nice for you. Maybe it was the way I was raised or just something that I acquired over time, but it's something I strongly believe in. I try to do something nice for someone as often as I possibly can, not just to be rewarded in some way, but because I get a strong sense of pride when I help out. I do many nice things for people but do not always get something in return, which is fine. However I do have this story I always like to tell about someone who did something for me that restored my faith that there are nice and helpful people out there.
My friend Carole and I love to go on road trips. We drive to North Carolina at least once a year, sometimes more often because we love that area and always enjoy our long, but fun, nine hour drives there. Last year, on the way home, we were crossing into Delaware and were preparing to pay the Delaware Memorial Bridge toll. As we got into the toll lane and handed the booth attendant our money, she advised us that the car in front of us had already paid for our toll. My friend and I were in awe and very thankful since we are both on a limited budget and every penny counts. As much as we tried, we couldn't catch up with the car to thank them, but I do remember tweeting a "Thank You" to the anonymous good Samaritan even though I have no idea if they use Twitter or ever saw it. I wish I could have thanked them for being so kind but I was never able to. A few days later when I was at Starbucks, this younger teenager was $1.25 short for her coffee, I gave it to her to help her out. As they always say, A good deed should not go unrewarded, and because that anonymous person helped us out at the toll booth, I gave back to someone as well.

Who wouldn't like a free hotel stay?? Hampton Hotel "Chain Of Friends" Sweepstakes!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hampton Hotels. All opinions are 100% mine.
Who would like to have an entire hotel to themselves for two nights? That's right, Hampton Hotels is giving you the opportunity to have an entire hotel (100 rooms) for two (2) whole nights! Do you have a wedding coming up? A family vacation? I'm sure this would give you even more of a reason to plan something! The grand prize winner will also win $5,000 for taxes that weekend or anything else that would be necessary! 100 daily weekend stays are also being given out for you and three of your friends.
If had the opportunity to win this I wouldn't even have 100 people to invite since I don't know that many. My guests would have to invite people of their own and so on! (That's why they call it Chain of Friends!) Even so, I would take a nice two night vacation with the people that I care about and the people that they care about. It would be such a nice getaway and such a fun time with the entire hotel to ourselves! We can dream, can't we??
Hampton Hotels have great locations all over the US and are beautiful, very clean and very accommodating to everyone! I have actually stayed at Hampton hotels before and never had any complaints. They're one of the only hotels I can say that I stayed in more than once and every single time I did, we had an amazing stay. Hampton hotels are those that I would stay in over and over again if I had the chance to.
What are you waiting for? Take a chance and enter now! (Oh, and if you win...you know how to reach me for the invite!) Enter the Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes!
No purchase is necessary to enter, and you must enter by September 4th, 2010. Limit one daily prize per household. Prizes will be awarded a “Be My Guest Certificates” that don’t expire until December 31st, 2011.

Sonic, Swimming and vacation. :)
Our short vacation is so fun and relaxing. Last night, when we got here, we ended up going to dinner. Of course, it was a chain restaurant; Ruby Tuesdays. After eating the junk we ate in the car and deciding to stop at Waffle House for breakfast, we had to have something that made us feel healthy. We went to where we had gone to Ruby Tuesdays the last time we were here, but found that to be closed down!! (How upsetting.) Thank God for Blackberries, Google and our GPS (which we nicknamed Dug because it sounds like the dog from "Up!") we found another Ruby Tuesdays not too far away. Definitely delicious -- one of our favorites.
Afterwards, we needed to find a Walgreens because we forgot to get milk for the coffee we brought -- Oh delightful! LOL Since this is a larger city, we thought it would be so simple to find one. It was; except finding a 24 hour Walgreens wasn't so easy. AGAIN - Thank God for Blackberries, Google and GPS. We finally found a 24 hour Walgreens.
Some fleeting thoughts crossed our mind about visiting a hotel bar for some drinks, but by the time we got to the bar (11:15 pm) it was closed and the thought of trying to find another was just absolutely tiring. We were up since 4:30 am and by almost midnight we were half dead.
This morning we got up pretty early and decided to go to the pool. The hotel pool is so small and adorable. It's burning hot here at 97 degrees with very stuffy humidity, but there was a small breeze and the water was refreshing and warm. :) We stayed there for about two hours, until a couple with a kick ass body came. Oy. That wasn't so great with the two of us who have inadequate bodies that don't even measure up to washboard abs and a flat stomach. We had to get out of there!! :)
I am happy to report that I got a nice tan, on the skin that already had the self tanning lotion on it. The skin that was still pasty white (like the very tippy tops of my legs that my shorts cover) got a burn. Although, the burn doesn't look that bad at all! It kind of looks like a reddish tan. HA!
Since we are geeks from probably the only place that does NOT have a Sonic, we stopped at the Sonic that we saw near our hotel. We were way too amused that they had drive ins...for real. It was just too amusing for us. And their sandwiches are just AMAZING and so unique. I was in love with that food. I HAVE to find a Sonic near me now. (Note to self: DO NOT GET ADDICTED TO JUNK FOOD. DIET WHEN YOU GET BACK!) lol
We had such a great day and have more of a great day to come. I'm going to be sad when our little vacation is over tomorrow and we're headed home, but I miss my girls. Here's a video that my mom took of my two lovies in the pool today. I can't wait to go swimming with them when I get home. I can't wait to hug and squeeze and kiss my little girls. :)
Monday Mingle - 06/21/10
Unfortunately, I'm in a hotel room with other people and can't Vlog, but I still want to partake in the Monday Mingle. Today I'm just going to post the questions and answers. Everyone already thinks I'm odd for typing my entire life to strangers on the internet. LOL (It seems natural to me!!)
Vacation is going great!! It's so beautiful here and just perfect. We ended up going to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner last night, and what a story that was! (For a later blog! LOL) We also tried to find a Walgreens that was open 24 hours and that proved to be a feat!!
Soon we'll be going out to the pool and then to Sonic for lunch. We're considering BBQ for dinner before our fun and great event. :)
ONWARD TO MONDAY MINGLE!!
1. What is the one thing you find most frustrating about getting older? I'm only 25, but I feel so much older sometimes. I think the most frustrating thing about getting older, for me, is just knowing that I'm getting closer to 30. Why does that scare me so badly? I have absolutely no idea!
2. What is the one thing you like best about it? Getting older is getting wiser. ;)
3. What age did you look forward to most? 18 so I could be independant and on my own, and 21. Everyone wants to be 21 for obvious reasons! :D LOL Although, I still get carded when I go out for drinks. I just look young. I guess that's a good thing!!

I love the Cheesecake Factory!
I am on a mini vacation (that's what I call it. LOL) and am enjoying myself very much.
Call me sheltered and uncultured, but I haven't ever been to the Cheesecake Factory. Though...I have heard amazing things, really. Tonight, my friends suggested maybe we go there and when we looked up the menu online, it was incredibly extensive. We found our way there via GPS. First off, the place was HUGE and GORGEOUS. Such a gorgeous building. Once we got the actual menu, holy good GOD there was so much listed it was a frikkin BOOK, not a menu! It was awesome, really. We were so overwhelmed with the menu that we decided just to get a few smaller entrees that they called "snacks" and share those. We had fried artichokes, mini crabcakes and corn fritters. A-m-a-z-i-n-g!! I also had a Shephards Pie as an entree, but completely didn't eat it all. We still have leftovers that we're keeping in the mini fridge of the hotel.
[I'm backtracking but...] When I first got here I felt so homesick. I missed my bed, I missed my room, I missed my kids the most. My little huggy darlings. :( I miss their whining and crying and "mommy mommy mommy"ing... My friends got me out of that funk. We got all dressed up for dinner in our pretty leggings and long shirts/dresses, we did our makeup together and did our hair and took pictures in the mirror... Some may consider them "Myspace/Facebook Poses"... lol I call it pure fun!! I actually was very pleased with the way I looked...10lbs is a lot when you're dressed in a form fitting shirt. The homesickness went away pretty quickly. :)
Our mini vaca, so far, is just perfect. I'm having a great time and am sad it's gonna be over so soon... Though I am glad to go home and see my kids in another two days. :) I can hug them and kiss them until they get so tired of me. Until I go home, we can talk on the phone. My mom and I agreed that I needed this time off.
